An independent reference guide to hand-moulding materials. It is not a shop, sells nothing and has no connection with the former website on this domain; before buying for a child, check the age shown on the pack.

Archive

Archive

The archive lists every page of the guide in order of publication. Each row has a date and a tag, and the filter lets you show only pages on one topic. The archive comes in handy when you remember reading about a carpet stain or magnets somewhere but can't recall which section it was in. The old addresses left over from the previous website on this domain are listed separately below.

We don't hide the old addresses or pass them off as the former pages. Each of them now holds an honest note: what used to be there and what useful reading you can find now.

— Editor's note

One archive row is one published page. If a page is substantially revised, its row stays the same and the change is noted in the feed of new pages. There are only four tags, and they match the way questions are usually asked: "materials" is about what these putties are and how they behave; "care" covers storage, cleaning and stains; "safety" is about children, the age on the pack and magnets; "activities" covers games, modelling and gifts. A page may touch on several topics, but in the archive it is given one main tag so the filter doesn't become confusing. Dates show the day of first publication, not the latest edit.

Old addresses on this domain

This domain used to host a shop selling thinking putty and gifts, and later it carried unrelated advertising. We did not keep the advertising, and we turned a few of the former shop's addresses into reference pages: each one explains what used to be there and offers useful material on the topic. None of these pages sells anything or takes orders.

  • New

  • Topics

Four groups of topics: materials, care and storage, safety, activities and gifts.

  • Home

A guide to thinking putty, plasticine, slime and kinetic sand: properties, care, safety and activities.

Ingredients, labelling and manufacturers' recommendations change over time, so the instructions and markings on the pack of the specific product are always your main guide. This reference explains general principles and does not replace a doctor's advice if something goes wrong.
